Haad Salad Beach in the local dialect translates as 'pirate beach'. This is because the sheltered cove with its coral reefs and shallow bay was inaccessible by the Thai navy and hence made an excellent place for smugglers to hide. Nowadays the beautiful white sand beach and crystal clear waters of Haad Salad are no longer used by pirates but rather by those looking for a paradise beach holiday. Fully stocked and equipped kitchen. Very safe area that you can leave the door open anytime. Great budget place, really good location, quiet and pretty close from the shops and the center. Recommend it. Great place to stay if your traveling in a group, the host was very helpful and keen to return some lost book. The house is close to a secondary road, it is not busy but you hear the sound of cars or scooters when they pass by. Some guests found the beds a bit hard, for other they are fine.

White Azure is a contemporary sea front villa located in the Gulf of Thailand on the east coast of the island of Koh Phangan The 4 bedroom villa is set within the lush jungle of Than Sadet overlooking the sea and bay, 300 meters from the beach. White Azure Villa is set in the jungle close to Than Sadet National Park. The villa comes with a full time housekeeper/villa manager who will clean the villa daily and is available for general tourist information The villa also comes with a full time Groundsman/Handyman. The staff live in a separate house 50 Metres away and can help arrange tours, taxis , in villa Thai massage We provide a transfer service to and from the villa upon confirmation of arrival and departure time to and from Koh Phangan. Transfer is charged at 1000THB for up to 5 people and 200THB per person extra, when over 5 people .The villa is located in the jungle up a steep mountain road which requires a 4 wheel drive vehicle for access. We do offer a outside taxi service to and from the villa from anywhere on the island for guests not wishing to drive. For guests wishing to arrive by rental car or bike, make your way down to Than Sadet beach and turn left just before the Than Sadet National Park Ranger Station following the signs to Hide and High Bar /Country Home. When you get to Hide and High/Country Home resort, follow the narrow cement road, winding down to the left, keeping left to White Azure villa about 100M. A 4 wheel drive vehicle with ground clearance such as as Suzuki Caribbean or Toyota Hilux is necessary since the road is unpaved and steep in places. If you get lost and need help you can call Eye the housekeeper who can advise. For guests arriving from Koh Samui, we can organise to have met at the airport and transferred by private speedboat direct to Than Sadet beach for 10,000THB total. Public transport by various ferry's from Koh Samui is also possible which can be arranged at the airport transfer desk. Ferry times are available at lomprayah.com or seatrandiscovery.com A villa manager will be available for some of the time at the staff house located 50 metres away from White Azure villa to advice guests about the villa or activities related to the island. The housekeeper/Villa Manager Eye, speaks good English and is also able to advise and organise trips, dive tours, elephant trekking ect around the island. Than Sadet National Park When translated literally, Than Sadet means the Royal Waterfall Retreat. The name refers to the long-running tradition of visits from members of Thai royalty to the deep fresh-water cascades set in the jungle about 10 minutes walk from the beach. The falls by many are considered sacred and water is collected to be used in certain Royal Ceremonies that obtain water from only a few sources around Thailand. A wooden sala just off the beach is kept swept and polished as a royal reception house. The national park at Than Sadet was established in 1999 to help keep the waterfall and surrounding jungle clean and rubbish-free, to clamp down any illegal hunting, and to halt attempts at the kind of unfettered development that has spoiled other parts of the island. Thanks to the presence of a manned National Park office, as well as the efforts of the local people, Than Sadet is an unspoilt spot. In recent times, monkeys have started to reappear at the waterfall. Other native four-legged creatures of Than Sadet include wild boar and deer, squirrel, possum and the harmless, alligator look-alike giant monitor lizard. Bats, flying foxes, spiders and snakes, dolphins and turtles are also frequently spotted. Fish such as red snapper, mackerel, barracuda, can be caught off shore. Song birds along with large birds of prey including sea eagles inhabit the area's lush vegetation and cliffs. A well-marked walking trail leads from the beach to the falls. Other trails lead over the high ridges on either side of the cove, past the hibiscus bushes, the coconut and banana groves, mango, papaya and cashew trees of the beach and into the dense jungle. Popular hikes include a 25 minute uphill hike to a flat-rock offering a superb view of Than Sadet's double bay, and an hour-long hike to nearby Tong Nai Pan. Many other trails exist although a guide is recommended Taxis are available from the villa upon advance notice and also at the public beach located 300 Metres away. Rental cars and bikes are also available at the beach. There is a shared taxi service departing from the beach at Mai Pen Rai Resort every morning at 10am for Tongsala which returns at 1pm. Cost is 200THB per person each way. There is also a public boat departing most mornings from the beach stopping at Haad Tien, Haad Rin and then on to Koh Samui.
